pOST - SEASON TESTING

Thanks for your interesting in Coaching Velocity Kids

We are looking to bring on a lead assistant coach to help with my Velocity Kids Summer Program (1st–8th grade), and I’d love to share a little more about what I’m hoping for.

Last summer, we had about 35 kids, and we are already pretty close to that this season & still have a few more weeks of signups open. While my volunteer coaches were great, I’m looking for someone who can step into more of a leadership role during practices.

The season runs June 8 – July 15th with two 1-hour practices per week.

Monday & Wednesday 7:30-8:30 am.

We will have practices at St James Park.  If the construction gets too crazy, we will switch locations.

You can expect 12 paid practices total.

The coach would also help with practice planning, setup, and takedown.

Our Summer program focuses more on speed, agility, and overall athletic development—helping kids get faster, more coordinated, and more confident while having a lot of fun.

Practices typically include:

  • Dynamic warmups - Run a lap - ladder drills

  • Speed mechanics (starts, acceleration, sprint form)

  • Agility work (ladders, cone drills, change of direction)

  • Plyometrics & jumping

  • Fun, high-energy games that keep kids moving

I’m looking for someone who can step into a leadership role, help run stations, and bring great energy to the group.

The ideal person would be:

  • High energy and great with kids

  • Comfortable leading a group and helping run practice

  • Have a background in running, track, strength & conditioning, or athletics

  • Able to help develop, organize, & run drills

  • Able to help organize drills and keep practices flowing

They would also need to:

  • Complete a USATF coaching certification

  • Pass a background check

  • Follow basic youth sport safety guidelines

  •

If it’s a great fit, I’d love to have this person help with future Velocity Kids seasons (we have 5 throughout the year) and other programs as well.

Let me know if you’d like to chat more about it!
