"We know from the literature that arm swinging plays an important role in balancing the motion of the swinging legs."
"Research has shown that restraining your arm swing can reduce your running economy."
From balance to running economy - the arm swing is very important.
4 Running Arm Tips:
* Elbows at about 90 degree - forearm parallel to the running surface
* Swing from the shoulder - not the elbow
* Don't swing arms across midline of body - this is wasted energy & effects the feet land placement
* Keep shoulders & hand relaxed
Give these drills a try:
Swing Up and Down? Try this
Swing from elbow? Try this..
Swing across the body? . . . Think "don't drop the $100 under your arm".
