Why We Lace Up & What It Really Means
Wednesday, June 4th, runners around the world are lacing up their shoes, logging miles, and celebrating the joy, strength, and freedom that running brings to our lives.
Whether you're chasing a new PR, jogging with a stroller, or heading out for a solo loop with your favorite playlist, Global Running Day is for all of us.
But beyond the hashtags and group runs, today is a reminder of something deeper:
Running is a gift.
A tool.
A teacher.
A lifeline.
As I have invited many of my local running athletes to the Global Running event that St. George Running store is hosting, I have many who told me they had never heard of the event. Thus this weeks post! 😘
The Beauty of Running Is That It Meets You Where You Are
You don’t have to be fast. You don’t have to be training for a marathon. You just have to start where you are.
Maybe you're running to clear your head.
Maybe you're coming back from injury.
Maybe you're finding joy in your "easy" pace again.
Global Running Day is a celebration of every version of the runner inside you—past, present, and future.

Why Running Matters More Than Ever
In a world that moves fast, running gives us a rhythm we can control. Studies show running improves not just cardiovascular health but mental resilience, emotional regulation, and even memory.
For women over 40, consistent aerobic training can help balance hormones, boost bone density, and reduce the risk of chronic disease (yes, the science is there—thanks Dr. Stacy Sims and friends!).
And let’s not forget what running teaches us:
Discipline when motivation fades.
Courage when the distance feels too long.
Patience when progress takes its sweet time.
Joy in the little wins—a sunrise, a new trail, a pain-free run.
How to Celebrate Global Running Day (Your Way)
If you're wondering how to mark the day, here are a few ideas:
✅ Run with someone new. Invite a friend who’s always been “curious” about running.
✅ Reflect on your journey. Write down one thing running has taught you.
✅ Try something different. Trail instead of road. Easy instead of hard. A shakeout instead of a tempo.
✅ Share your story. Someone out there needs to hear it.
