Most runners wait too long to sign up for a half marathon. They tell themselves, “I’ll do it when I’m in better shape” or “once I feel more ready.”


But here’s the truth…

You’ve thought about it.

Maybe you’ve even looked at races—Beaver, Bryce, Parowan, Nebo…


And then that little voice kicks in:

I hear this all the time.

And most of the time… runners are closer than they think.

Let’s simplify it.


You don’t need to be fast.

You don’t need to be perfect.

You don’t need to be running crazy mileage.

You just need a foundation.




3 Signs You Might Need a Little More Build First (And That’s Okay)

This isn’t a “you can’t do it.”


This is a “you’re not far off—you just need structure.”


The good news?


All of these are fixable.

And they’re exactly what proper training is designed to address.


The Biggest Mistake I See Runners Make

They wait.

They wait until they feel “ready.”They wait until they feel more confident.

They wait until they think they’re in better shape.

Or…


They jump in without a plan and hope it works out.

Both lead to the same place:

  • frustration

  • burnout

  • injury

  • or not reaching their potential


What Actually Gets You Ready

Not guessing.

Not winging it.

Not doing random runs.


It’s structure.


The kind that:

  • builds your long run gradually

  • keeps most of your training at the right effort (hello 80/20)

  • uses heart rate/effort zones so you’re not overdoing it

  • includes strength + recovery so your body stays healthy

  • and builds confidence week by week


Because confidence doesn’t come from hoping…

It comes from knowing you’ve done the work.
